2 Years Old!

August 15, 2012 (before breakfast = not happy about chair pic)

Wow.  Really?  Well, bad news first.  This chair photo sesh was our least successful attempt to date.  We may have to call an end to the chair photos all together.

And now the good news... Jack is 2 and better than ever!  While I admit that the terrible two's are no joke, I'd take a "terrible" version of Jack over the best version of any other kid any day.  He has more than enough sweets, sillies and smarts to outweigh the whines, disobedience and occasional tantrums.  He talks nonstop, even when he doesn't have anything relevant to say.  He's speaking in complete sentences more often than not, and if you didn't hear him (or even if you did), he'll repeat himself until you acknowledge that you did.

At his 2-year check-up today, he weighed in at 33.5lbs and was 36.25" tall.  That's 95th percentile for weight and 90th for height.  The doc described him as "muscular" and perfectly healthy.

Interests as of late include but are not limited to stacking objects, things with wheels, playing in water, Curious George, helping take out the garbage cans, brooms, vacuums, the "big fan" (air conditioning unit outside his bedroom window), and asking about/playing with his family and friends.  He absolutely loves playing with other people... kids and adults alike.  He's so friendly and kind and funny with other kids.  He has an incredible memory... he remembers details of events from weeks and even months ago and will bring them up with or without prompting.  He also remembers almost everyone's name, who is associated with who, and with what events.  I'm going to start going over the Kearney/Murphy family tree with him so I can use him as a resource at the next Christmas Breakfast.

His latest obsession (as of yesterday) is blowing out candles.  He really loved the relight kind because he got to blow it out again and again.

On the slate for year #3: starting preschool, potty training and (if we must) moving to a big boy bed... and probably several dozen other things that I haven't thought of yet.  In the meantime, we're looking forward to celebrating Jack turning 2 at his little birthday party this weekend and to keeping the blog going strong so Jack's family and friends will never feel too out of touch with the sweet little Bean.

Happy Birthday, Jack!!!  Hope you had a great day!  xoxo, Mommy
