Monterey & Capitola

I've been itching for our family to have a little weekend away, and we finally got it this weekend.  We headed down to Monterey on Friday morning to take Jack to the Aquarium for the first time.  He was less interested in the live fish, sharks, turtles and jellies and more interested in the interactive button & lever displays, the wave tunnel and the touch pools, where he got to touch several starfish and other gooey sea creatures.

When we tired of the Aquarium, we drove to Capitola, where we spent the weekend playing at the beach, walking around town and eating at all my fave spots.  Marianne's, check!  Gayle's, check!  Pizza My Heart, check!  candy store, check!  Mimi and Grandpa came down on Saturday to see the little Bean, and they were kind enough to babysit for us while Jesse and I went out to a fun dinner on Saturday night.  Gracias, M&G!

Incase you're interested, Jack climbed out of his travel crib in 2 seconds flat (Jess watched on the monitor and he basically just flipped over the side head first), so we made a little bed for him on the floor using a long couch cushion and a bunch of pillows and blankets.  Apparently we are completely done with cribs of any form.

Overall, it was a great weekend.  A few pics and a video of the wave tunnel excitement are below...
